This year's Winter Build is for two families. The first family is the Johnson family; Dana and her three sons, Kaden, Talon and Jayce. Itasca County Habitat for Humanity will be building a two level three bedroom modular home in partnership with Lagom Homes out of Duluth, Minnesota. Lagom Homes will complete the foundation and the house shell and Habitat volunteers will complete all of the interior work and the siding. This is an exciting new partnership and the Johnson family is excited to help out on their new home. Dana currently works at a Grand Rapids Dental Office. Talon attends school in Warba and plays the trumpet and loves fishing and Jace attends school in Grand Rapids. He loves to build Legos and swim. Kaden joined Youth Build with Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA) and is receiving instruction in carpentry and construction while earning his high school diploma. He is excited to use his carpentry skills on their new house!
The second Winter Build is for Robert (Bob) Ronning. Bob's house will be a one level two bedroom modular home, also built in partnership with Lagom Homes. Habitat volunteers will complete the siding and interior work. Bob is recovering from addiction that kept him homeless from 2006-2021. He currently works for First Call for Help 211 and continues his recovery through attending groups and speaking to others just starting out on their recovery journey. Bob is so thankful to be a Habitat Partner Family and feels it is a benchmark in his recovery and his life.
There are several ways you can help these families by volunteering and ways to donate.
